Emotional Intelligence

Course length: 1 day

Course Description

Emotional intelligence drives workplace performance like no other determinant, and it can be measured with reliable and valid instruments. Emotional intelligence is elastic. Those who lack it can acquire it; those who have it can enhance it. In this course, you will assess your current emotional intelligence capabilities, determine your strengths, and identify areas for improvement. You will examine how emotions affect behavior and how those behaviors impact your relationships with others. You will also develop strategies for managing the emotional energy in yourself and others.

A student wrote: "I have always been amazed at the number of people in leadership roles who possess a rather low EQ and am well aware of the impact that it has on individual relationships, departments, and the organization as a whole. For too many years this important component of human behavior has been overlooked in the Training & Development arena. Too much emphasis has been placed on Management Styles/Leadership and their affects without teaching people the process of how to actually change themselves. Understanding oneself and why we do what we do is the first step in personal and professional development. Being given the tools to do so is the next step. The great news is that it can be improved! And until one knows how to raise their EQ it would be difficult to positively alter any other aspect of their behavior. It is refreshing to see that Emotional Intelligence is making the list of business courses and, in my opinion, should be a requirement for everyone."
